Book Review: The Mine by John Heldt

The Mine is a story of time travel, historical fiction, and romance. Joel and his friend Adam venture into an old abandon mine and against Adam's wishes, Joel goes in farther than he should. As Joel goes deeper into the mine, he is sent back to 1941. 59 years back from present day!! I was very surprised by how Joel was able to adapt being sent back into time. I know I would lose my everlasting mine but hey, that's just me LOL. He was worried about the clothes that he was wearing and if he would have a roof over his head or not. I know that is something typical that we should worry about but at that moment that would be the farthest thing from my mind. I would just want to get home. I applaud Joel a lot in this book. He gets taken in by a family and befriends his grandmother and her friends. He also falls in love with one of his grandmother friends named Grace.

He does face some problems. He is torn between warning the people around him of the war and if the chance came for him to return, would he?

The big question that I was looking forward to was what was he going to do at the end. I was reading this book on the breaks that I had between classes. I could not wait for my classes to end so I could continue reading. Through out the story it was beautiful. I loved reading this book. :)))
