Book Review: Madame Lilly, Voodoo Priestess by Dormaine G

(I was sent this ebook by the author in exchange for an honest review)

Goodreads summary: Voodoo Priestess, Madame Lilly, will get her revenge tonight even if the price is her soul. In the late 1800’s Odara, a Creole girl in New Orleans, grew up wealthy and having the best of everything. She was taught the ways of plaçage: to be a wealthy man’s common-law wife. She didn’t want to follow the ways of plaçage as her mother had, until she met the man of her dreams, Henry Nicolas. He was handsome, charming and rich; perfect in every way until their first night of marriage when she saw his true malevolent side. For twelve long years Odara endured abuse in the worst ways possible, taking her from a naive child to a scorned woman. A woman fueled with such revulsion towards Henry she would give anything for vengeance. Through voodoo, Madame Lilly was born, but with it came consequences beyond even her comprehension.

I know that from now on whatever is written by this author I am going to love it. I have never been to New Orleans although I live in Louisiana. I really can't wait to go.

In this short story we have our main character Odara. She was wealthy and had everything that she needed. She fell into what she thought was true love and a fairy-tale but things were not what they seemed. On her wedding night to Henry Nicolas she found out that it was nothing what she thought it would be. For twelve years she went through abuse physically and mentally. It was so bad that the heart that she felt for anyone turned cold and the only thing that she wanted was revenge. That is when she turns to voodoo and becomes Madame Lilly.

I felt so bad for Odara because of how she was treated. I could understand her bitterness towards everyone. She literally went through hell with her husband. My heart broke for her and I wanted her to be free. She got what she wanted but everything comes with a cost

Then we have Theolus and Hearon. They are ruthless and cutthroat spirits and are under Madame Lilly's control. I am very curious of Theolus and Lilly's relationship (hint hint hehe)

I have high bets that Elijah is my favorite character. He is only introduced for just a second but that small presents creates a huge impact on the story.

Even though this is a short story it is so much going on and it has you on the edge of you seat. You won't even know the story is over until you turn the page and realize that it is over. The mystery and suspense killed me and the ending was great!

The Mister Book Review

Goodreads synopsis:  London, 2019. Life has been easy for Maxim Trevelyan. With his good looks, aristocratic connections, and money, he’s never had to work and he’s rarely slept alone. But all that changes when tragedy strikes and Maxim inherits his family’s noble title, wealth, and estates, and all the responsibility that entails. It’s a role he’s not prepared for and one that he struggles to face.   But his biggest challenge is fighting his desire for an unexpected, enigmatic young woman who’s recently arrived in England, possessing little more than a dangerous and troublesome past.  Reticent, beautiful, and musically gifted, she’s an alluring mystery, and Maxim’s longing for her deepens into a passion that he’s never experienced and dares not name. Just who is Alessia Demachi? Can Maxim protect her from the malevolence that threatens her? And what will she do when she learns that he’s been hiding secrets of his own?   I will admit I did have some kind of salty feelings going int
