Book Review: Dream on by M. Kircher

(I received this free book from the author in exchange for an honest review)

Goodreads Summary: Seventeen-year-old dreamwalker, Em, might have to choose—leave her mother forever in the dreamworld or save the life of hot, rebel Gabe.

Emily Dal Monte and her mother, Lily, are special. They’re humans with a glitch in their genetic code that allows them to explore the fantastic, and often terrifying, world of their dreams for as long as they choose to remain asleep. But when Em’s father is killed in a tragic accident and her distraught mother loses herself more and more in the dreams of her crumbling mind, Em is forced to support the two of them the only way she knows how, by writing down her mother’s amazing dreams and selling them as books. Enter Gabriel Sobel, the punk newcomer at Em’s high school who realizes Em is the daughter of his favorite, reclusive author. Gabe can’t figure out why Em keeps brushing him off and makes it his mission to find out what’s really going on at the Dal Monte household. He stumbles upon their shocking family secret just as Lily takes a turn for the worse. It’s up to Em, Gabe, and one very nosy book editor to hop from one extraordinary dream to the next, to find Lily and convince her to wake up before she loses her mind…and before Em loses her first chance at love.

Emily and her Mom are sleepers. Not normal like you and I go to sleep and then wake up in the morning. They can go to sleep for days without food or water.
This has never been a problem until Emily’s Father died and her Mother starts sleeping much more often and for longer looking for her Father in dreams.
She and her Mother live a secret life because of who they are and because Emily has taken over her Mother’s job as an author of adventure novels. No one knows she is writing the books instead of her Mother. Until she misses a deadline and Evan the editor becomes curious and pays a visit with a request not only to meet the author but to ask her to do a national book tour.
Gabe, a new kid at school has also become a problem. He loves the books and gets a little too curious about Emily! She ends up telling him the whole story after she realizes that she is going to have to help her Mother come back from her dreams.
Gabe and Evan both want to help her find her Mother. But they are not sleepers and if they are in the dreams too long they could die!  Emily warns them but they still want to help.
Adventures from the books start to ensue the moment they enter her dreams. They follow clues from one dream to the next in search of her Mother! Time is running short and Evan and Gabe need to wake up but they lack one more clue to find her Mother.

To find out if they survive the adventures and return to safety or if her Mother Dreams On check out   M. Kircher’s latest novel Dream On.

What I liked about this book was the detail when Emily and Gabe were in the dreams following the clues to get to the next place. If I had to say something I didn’t like I guess it would be the pace. I found myself at times having to put the book down and come back to it later.

My rating for this book is a 3 out of 5 stars.

The Mister Book Review

Goodreads synopsis:  London, 2019. Life has been easy for Maxim Trevelyan. With his good looks, aristocratic connections, and money, he’s never had to work and he’s rarely slept alone. But all that changes when tragedy strikes and Maxim inherits his family’s noble title, wealth, and estates, and all the responsibility that entails. It’s a role he’s not prepared for and one that he struggles to face.   But his biggest challenge is fighting his desire for an unexpected, enigmatic young woman who’s recently arrived in England, possessing little more than a dangerous and troublesome past.  Reticent, beautiful, and musically gifted, she’s an alluring mystery, and Maxim’s longing for her deepens into a passion that he’s never experienced and dares not name. Just who is Alessia Demachi? Can Maxim protect her from the malevolence that threatens her? And what will she do when she learns that he’s been hiding secrets of his own?   I will admit I did have some kind of salty feelings going int
