As she dwells on his estate, her feelings for Tamlin transform from icy hostility into a fiery passion that burns through every lie and warning she's been told about the beautiful, dangerous world of the Fae. But an ancient, wicked shadow grows over the faerie lands, and Feyre must find a way to stop it... or doom Tamlin—and his world—forever.
I could not put this book down whatsoever!! Wait, I lied I did have to put it down because this thing called Life would not let me have all the feels of this book like I wanted to.
I haven't read a good fantasy book in a good minute and this was a good one to remind myself why I love fantasy. This is a good retelling of the classic Beauty and the Beast. Feyre is a strong character and her selflessness towards her family was everything. She was broken, hurt, and she had some hate in her heart. Most of all even around her family, she was alone. She did what she could to take care of her family based off a vow that she made to her dying mother. Her life changed when she killed a wolf in the woods while she was out hunting for food. A beast then comes to collect her for revenge against killing the wolf. She is to live out the remaining days in Prythian.
I love the world that was created with in this book. The descriptions of the High Fae and the different courts were so beautiful. Tamlin is living with the curse that is upon his whole court. He is a High Fae and powerful but with the curse over him much of his power is gone. I did like Tamlin and Feyre together but i wasn't 100 percent sold on the idea of them. Maybe it will grow on me. I haven't started the second book so we will see.
Lucien is a charm. He is Tamlin's best friend and would do anything for him. Even put aside his disagreement with Feyre living with them. Eventually he takes a liking to her. His past is horrific and I was so glad that he was able to get away from that tragedy but his hurt is evident.
The Queen was a total B****!!! I hated her with everything in me. She was ruthless and heartless. I'm not even sure if that is a good word for her. The trails were brutal. Whatever fate she got was well deserved for her. I felt so bad for Feyre.
I really liked Rhysand's character as well. I am drawn to the misunderstood villain. I hope there is more of him in the second book.
I loved the writing of this story and the build up of the worlds. This is my first book by this author and I can't wait to read the second one. I will say that they hype on this book is out of this world. It is a good book that I would recommend but I do not see the hype as everyone is talking about. Now, I haven't started the second one so maybe I will be wrong about the hype. We will see
