Discussion #2 Intimidating Books?

It is very obvious that I love to read. I have my favorites and not so favorites but there are some books that I am or feel particularly intimidated by.

One: High Fantasy. I know this type of genre is on a lot of bloggers/readers list. The length of the book does not bother me at all especially if I love the book. Its the story itself. If there is a whole lot going on as far as realms, providence, and kingdoms I have a hard time keeping up with what characters belong where and the different back grounds. I sometimes feel like I won't get a full grasp on the understanding of the story. I often have to reread a part or come back to it at a later time.

Also, if there is a dictionary for the terminology of said genre, I often shy away from that as well. The reason is most of the time I can hardly pronounce the places or the names that are written and like I said before if I have to keep referring to the glossary I lose interest. I try to read them because it is good to sometimes get out of my usual comfort zone but I am very picky when it comes to high fantasy.

Two: Graphic Novels. I know a lot of people that love them. In fact, I get asked almost everyday whenever new graphic novels come to the library. I guess it is because I waited so late in my adult life to try to read them that I feel like they are just not for me. Especially comics like Marvel and D.C. I don't know what character belongs to which universe and its rather a lot to keep up with. With Manga and Anime, I have a hard time trying to read them because they are read from right to left. I'm one of those that wish I have a love of this type of genre but I don't think it will happen but you know what they say...never say never!

Three: Classics. The only classics that I have read are the ones that were required of me to read in school. I read for entertainment and the fact that I was forced to read something that I didn't made me kinda shy away from them as well. I think if I was made to read them then I might have picked them up for myself. I remember reading a quote.
"A classic is something that everybody wants to have read but never has"
I don't remember who said this quote but it is true. I guess I am one of these people.

I would love to hear from any of you guys of any books/genres that you may feel the same way about.

The Mister Book Review

Goodreads synopsis:  London, 2019. Life has been easy for Maxim Trevelyan. With his good looks, aristocratic connections, and money, he’s never had to work and he’s rarely slept alone. But all that changes when tragedy strikes and Maxim inherits his family’s noble title, wealth, and estates, and all the responsibility that entails. It’s a role he’s not prepared for and one that he struggles to face.   But his biggest challenge is fighting his desire for an unexpected, enigmatic young woman who’s recently arrived in England, possessing little more than a dangerous and troublesome past.  Reticent, beautiful, and musically gifted, she’s an alluring mystery, and Maxim’s longing for her deepens into a passion that he’s never experienced and dares not name. Just who is Alessia Demachi? Can Maxim protect her from the malevolence that threatens her? And what will she do when she learns that he’s been hiding secrets of his own?   I will admit I did have some kind of salty feelings going int
